STORYBOOK features 9 new songs ranging from epic orchestration to serene and peaceful piano compositions. Each song with a little piece of history, while you listen you can hear the story being told.
Neverland
A melody written years ago for a lifelong friend who was going through tough times. Be whisked away on an uplifting journey and adventure. Find the right path through the dynamics of peaceful piano and full orchestration.
Incantation Symphonic
From the existing love song, Incantation, this piece expands and grows in power, featuring a full and emotive symphony. Listen as the instruments exist and burst together in perfect harmony and rhythm.
Wicked
Think villain origin story.
The piece starts with insight into a woman’s tale, listen as you hear her story of betrayal and pain. As the song develops, you find out what happens and how much it broke her. You then feel her emotional aftershock, the vulnerability and suffering that she experiences. As she gains her strength and empowerment, the song builds and picks up in an epic ending of relentless revenge.
Delirious
Gentle and effervescently flourishing, Delirious is a song that was written on a cold winter day. Each verse glows with personality and dynamics, but with the constant slowing down of the verses and returning back to the polyrhythmic chorus over and over again, that feeling of delirium is the perfect fit for this creation.
Afternoon in Paris
Violà! Take a promenade in the park as the gentle staccato rhythm and simple yet captivation melody on the piano invites you in. With a splash of major chords throughout a minor song, you’ll feel relaxed and calm as you listen.
First time ever, a major song. Nap in the Sun was written as an improvisation on the piano after a particularly peaceful day. Typically when writing, my emotions are what drive the melody. This time, I captured the sun rays, so nap away in the comfort of serenity.
Papa
Originally, the melody was written by my father on guitar in the 90’s. About a year ago, he showed a little snippet of the clip where he played it for my mother and her family. My dad then asked that I write a song to that melody. So taking his beautiful melodic idea, I then expanded it into a full symphonic piece. Envisioning his strength and his power and using my love for him as the driving force, this is one of my favourite compositions I’ve ever written.
Captured Time
Also an improvisation, but this time with more anxious emotion, Captured Time, feels like you’re stuck in an arpeggiating loop trying to burst out of the bubble of time. As the interlude song continues, listeners are brought in and out and captured again to the coil of sounds.
Epilogue
Written with the intention of being the last song of the album, Epilogue is a cascading and emotionally strong send off after listening to the whole track list. As the performance builds and falls and builds back up once more, it finishes with a big and epic peak with the conclusion – there will be more.
