From a Chain Lesson by Vladimir Vasiliev – a brief study guide
Chain is a very dangerous weapon in street fights and a very efficient tool for training. The right set of drills quickly develops agility and softness in the body, and helps to remove tension and fear.
The first stage of developing the chain control is to prepare the body for contact and movement.
In these notes taken directly from Vladimir’s chain lesson, you will see the list of 8 simple exercises. Pictures, brief descriptions and training tips are presented for you as a clear and concise practice guide.
Especially recommended for Systema instructors and training groups to use as part of your practice & teaching.

I had my doubts about the Exercise 7 where you flick and redirect the chain with our fingers. But is actually worked. When the chain is flying, you do not need much effort to redirect it. And you do learn to stay relaxed for this fine control. Great ideas, Vladimir! Thanks.

I missed the chain class, so I’m so glad there’s still a way I can practice the exercises.
