He has an extensive background in Brazilian Jiujitsu, Silat and Internal Chinese martial arts (chi kung). Hoy is also a national medalist in Shotokan Karate and Shaolin Kung Fu.
Hoy states that after he had trained for over 15 years in Chi Kung under renown teachers, only Systema founders, Vladimir and Mikhail, provided him with a complete understanding of the internal combative and health work.

Hoy has always been a source of knowledge when it comes to sensitivity work here at Systema HQ. In this class he presents the topic exceptionally well. I found the exercises really helpful in developing my own understanding of using the pulse and feeling more subtle energies in healing and combative work. I recommend anyone wishing to study the internal aspects of Systema, study from this video. When you apply internal work into a training session, you greatly increase the potential of personal healing ability and combat situational awareness and power.

I recently bought and watched Hoy Chan’s video downloadable on Sensitivity (Hands and Fingers) and found it outstanding and so deep. I’ll be watching it many times I am sure.

This class helped me to become aware of sensations in my fingertips that I had never been able to feel before, such as the pulse at my fingertips. I will continue to practice using the stick. I realized that tools such as the stick can teach us many things depending on how we use them. It is very interesting. I am very grateful to Hoy. It is difficult for me to notice the areas of tension by myself, so I appreciate his advice very much.
